About Sarah
My first experience of getting involved at WCU was when I joined the Residential Hall Association and was Tyson Hall’s secretary in fall 2015. I assisted in planning our hall’s events and meetings. This helped me realized I wanted to do more on the campus. That next semester, I Co-founded the WCU of PA chapter of the Association of Black Social Workers. This organization focuses on the social issues/struggles of African-Americans and provides connections to different service to help those in need. On WCU’s campus, we implement awareness on major issues and host programs and fundraisers (it is a non-profit organization).
In the spring of 2016 I was initiated into the Rho Alpha chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated; which is a public service sorority. I’ve served as the program coordinating chairperson, social action chairperson, and I've conducted educational and interactive programs, specifically speaking on social action topics. In spring of 2017, I was appointed to be the vice-president of the Black and Latino Greek council, which is composed of nearly fifteen separate and diverse Greek organizations. Through the experience I have been exposed to different cultures and collaborated to conduct many community services, community events, and council meetings.
