About Us

West Chester University (WCU) Emergency Medical Services, more commonly referred to as EMS, is a student organization staffed completely by volunteers.  We provide the highest quality of professionalism, integrity, and pre-hospital patient care to students, faculty, staff, and visitors of West Chester University. 

We are designated the identifier QRS-58 with Chester County.  QRS means Quick Response Service, and we are recognized by the Pennsylvania Department of Health as an Emergency Unit.   West Chester University EMS is staffed by Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT), First Responders, and other Attendants.  Most members of West Chester University EMS are at least CPR Certified. 

West Chester University EMS has also met national accreditation guidelines and is authorized as a an American Safety and Health Institute Basic Training Center.  We are proud to offer the campus community the option to partake in classes pertaining to the following topics: Basic First Aid, CPR for the Professional Rescuer, CPR for the Community and Workplace, Oxygen Administration, Automated External Defibrillation (AED), and Essentials in First Aid/CPR/AED.
