Schedule of Events
SOAR is a highly interactive program spread out over two days. It is intended for all new students including first-year students and transfer students! Students will participate in community service, learn about leadership, and set personalized goals. SOAR sets a student on the right path to succeed at West Chester University.
Below is the schedule from 2015. There will be a similar schedule for SOAR 2016.
SOAR Schedule Outline
Friday, September 9th
- Located in front of University Hall (facing the Parking Lot D/Lawrence Hall). Look for the tent and table!
3:30PM – 9:30PM: Welcome, Ice-Breakers, Special Programming
- Dinner will be provided
9:45PM: Arrive back at campus, drop-off at Sykes Student Union
Saturday, September 10th
8:30AM: Check- in, buses will leave promptly at 8:45
- Breakfast will be served upon arrival at Graduate Center
9:30AM - Noon: Morning Programing
- Lunch will be provided
11:30AM - 3:30PM: Community Service Project
3:30 - 5PM: Service Reflection and Raffle Prizes
5:30PM: Arrive back at campus, drop-off at University Hall
WHAT SHOULD I WEAR ON THE DAY(S) OF THE EVENT?
Saturday will involve a community service component that may take place outside. Please wear comfortable clothing and shoes (no flip flops).
The facilitators on Friday and Saturday will be providing an action-packed experience throughout the day. We encourage you to wear comfortable shoes, nice jeans / shorts and top.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO THE EVENT?
Nothing! Everything you need will be provided.
Don’t forget to bring an OPEN MIND and POSITIVE ATTITUDE!
